THE MOREN EN CHRISTENEN

The commemoration of the reconquest (Reconquista) of the Iberian Peninsula from the Moors and the fight against the Pirates of the Islamic religion. It was all off of the 11th to the 15th century but is still in many villages on the Costa Blanca, and on many different times during the year, spectacular celebrated during the Moors and Christians celebrations.

The clothing that is worn is exuberant. Of multicoloured to terrifying. Monotone (hypnotizing) mars music, an enormous hope sabre-rattling by both groups after the so-called. Entrada (the entry of the separate armies and warring with each other in their beauty slaves), followed by a procession usually in honor of the patron saint of city or village and ended with a great (re-enacted) battlefield with great quantities of fireworks where the fort or Castle is conquered by the Christians.
In summary experiencing so. See the agenda and again every village or city celebrates its Moors and Christians feast on different moments.

SEMANA SANTA

Easter is the most important religious feast in Spain. And the week that precedes it and which especially the suffering and the resurrection of Christ, is called the Semana Santa are commemorated in Spain (In Belgium and the Netherlands, we call this good week for Easter this year (2012) of 1 t/m 8 april).

An event in which tradition, art, religion and devotion (intense) come together. In every village and every town commemorated this event exuberant to very exuberant in particular by the Baroque (celebrated), which virtually every day in that week processions through the streets. These processions (every day with another theme), which in fact fine processions, start on Palm Sunday (april 1).

One of the grandest processions in Elche, where you’ll find than particularly beautiful images are swept along, that are made from bleached palm leaves from the largest Palm Grove in Europe (ca. 300,000 palm trees whose basis as A? n 300 years b.c. by the Phoenicians in Elche was planted).

THE MYSTERY OF THE POINT MASKS AND THE LONG, SAD ROAD TO CALVARY
In the procession of the penitents walk along. Often barefoot to do penance for all the suffering what Christ was done, but also to ask for forgiveness for their own mistakes. They wear the capiroles. Very striking point-shaped hats (masks actually) to guarantee the anonymity of the penitent, and often determine the (photo) picture of this processions. Do not look strange if you punish himself by penitents, who discovered a form of solid blows to the own body, or a part of the procession on their knees to accomplish.

A crucial moment in this week of the experience of suffering is the good Friday. That starts with the “dianas” in many places. In this case, Western melodies, played on the cornet and the start of the most sad and quietest processiedag of the Semana Santa, which often very emotional processiegangers (but also among the visitors) Christ and the Blessed Virgin and the often beautiful and very artistic images groups, carried out under dead silence, guiding (interrupted by everyone Sung lamentations) on their trip to the calvary.
